## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON LANDING ROLL OUT PILOT STATED THE LEFT WHEEL SEEMED OUT OF CONTROL CAUSING THE AIRCRAFT TO VEER TO THE LEFT OFF THE RUNWAY INTO A DRAINAGE DITCH. AIRCRAFT WAS DESTROYED. AFTER ACCIDENT EXAMINATION OF THE LEFT TIRE/WHEEL ASSEMBLY INDICATED THE ASSEMBLY WAS NOT ROTATING FORCING THE AIRCRAFT INTO A SKID LEFT AND ULTIMATELY INTO THE DRAINAGE DITCH.

INVESTIGATION IS CONTINUING IN ORDER TO DETERMINE THE EXTENT AND CAUSE OF THE LEFT WHEEL FAILURE.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ERA14CA201](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ERA14CA201), Apr 12, 2014: WSK PZL Mielec M 18A (N2297L), Blountstown, FL, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's inadequate compensation for the tailwind conditions and failure to maintain directional control during landing.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
