## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON 4/20/2014, PIC FLEW A VFR FLIGHT IN A 1992 STOLP V-STAR EXPERIMENTAL HOME BUILT FROM BAK AIRPORT IN COLUMBUS, INDIANA TO OVO AIRPORT IN NORTH VERNON, INDIANA, AND THEN RETURNED TO BAK AIRPORT IN COLUMBUS, INDIANA. A PRE-FLIGHT WAS PERFORMED AT BAK AND ALL AIRCRAFT SYSTEMS CHECKED OUT OK. THE FLIGHT TO OVO WAS INITIATED AT APPROXIMATELY 1600 AND THE FLIGHT WAS UNEVENTFUL. AFTER RE-FUELING THE AIRCRAFT AND PERFORMING A PRE-FLIGHT CHECK, THE RETURN FLIGHT TO BAK WAS INITIATED AT APPROXIMATELY 1700. CLEARANCE FOR LANDING ON RUNWAY 14 WAS OBTAINED FROM BAK TOWER. THE PIC WAS NOT PROPERLY ALIGHNED ON THE RUNWAY, SO UPON TOUCHDOWN, THE AIRCRAFT IMMEDIATELY VEERED TO THE RIGHT. APPLICATION OF FULL LEFT RUDDER WAS NOT SUFFICIENT TO RECOVER AND THE AIRCRAFT ENTERED A GROUND LOOP CAUSING THE LEFT GEAR LEG TO COLLAPSE AND THE PROPELLER TO STRIKE THE RUNWAY. BRAKES WERE NOT APPLIED. THE AIRCRAFT WAS STILL ON THE RUNWAY WHEN IT CAME TO A STOP. FUEL, MAGNETOS, AND ELECTRICS WERE IMMEDIATELY TURNED OFF AND THERE WAS NO FUEL LEAKAGE.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
