## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

THE CFI WAS GIVING INSTRUCTION TO A STUDENT WHEN A HERD OF DEER RAN ACROSS THE RUNWAY AS THEY WERE ON APPROACH. THEY MANAGED TO AVOID TWO DEER BUT THEN ONE JUMPED UP AND IMPACTED THE RIGHT LANDING GEAR, RIGHT FLAP AND RIGHT STABILIZER. THE GEAR LEG WAS BROKEN BUT THE OTHER DAMAGE CONSISTED OF MAINLY DENTED AND BENT SKIN PANELS.

Matched to the same aircraft by N-number and date.

- [Accident 19850714030899A](https://openairdocs.org/incident/19850714030899A), Jul 14, 1985: Cessna 172M (N12334), Statesville, NC, Substantial damage. Floated after landing on wet grass runway. Ran off end where wing struck a tree. Marginal VFR conditions existed.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
