## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

AFTER DEPARTING FROM A PRIVATE GRASS STRIP THE AIRCRAFT STRUCK TERRAIN APPROXIMATELY 1000 FEET FROM THE DEPARTURE END OF THE RUNWAY. THE AIRCRAFT IMPACTED TERRAIN IN A NOSE LOW ATTITUDE AT A HIGH ANGLE OF DESCENT. WHILE THE DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT WAS SUBSTANTIAL, THE AMOUNT OF ENERGY WAS RELATIVELY LOW AND THE AIRCRAFT REMAINED BASICALLY INTACT. THE AIRCRAFT CAME TO REST WITHIN FEET OF THE INITIAL IMPACT POINT IN AN INVERTED POSITION AND POINTING IN THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION OF THE AIRCRAFT?S APPROACH PATH. THE PILOT AND PASSENGER RECEIVED MINOR INJURIES AND WERE TREATED AT LOURDES HOSPITAL IN PADUCAH KENTUCKY. INITIAL INVESTIGATION INDICATES THAT THE ENGINE WAS DEVELOPING POWER AT THE TIME OF THE ACCIDENT. THE PILOT STATED THAT HE BELIEVED WINDSHEAR CAUSED THE AIRCRAFT TO BE FORCED INTO THE GROUND HOWEVER THERE ARE NO REPORTS OF WINDSHEAR IN THE AREA AT THE TIME OF THE ACCIDENT. WINDS AT THE TIME OF THE ACCIDENT WERE REPORTED AT KPAH TO BE 230 DEGREES AT 11 KNOTS. WINDS AT KCEY WERE REPORTED TO BE 230 12 GUSTING TO 23 KNOTS. THERE WAS NO CONVECTIVE OR THUNDERSTORM ACTIVITY IN THE AREA.
