## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON MAY 9, 2014 AT APPROXIMATELY 1400 PILOT ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ WAS LANDING AT WARRENTON AIRPARK (7VG0) WHEN HE EXPERIENCED A LEFT MAIN LANDING GEAR FAILURE. WHEN I INTRODUCED MYSELF TO ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ MY FIRST QUESTION WAS WHAT HAPPENED? ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ RESPONSE WAS "I MADE A HARD LANDING". ACCORDING TO ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ HE RELEASED THE JUMPERS AT 10.000 AGL AND PROCEEDED WITH A NORMAL DECENT AND SET UP FOR A RIGHT BASE APPROACH TO RUNWAY 22 AT 7VG0. ACCORDING TO ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ HE ESTABLISHED AND HELD A 72 KNOT APPROACH SPEED. AT ABOUT 15 FEET ABOVE THE RUNWAY THE AIRCRAFT SUDDENLY BROKE FROM STRAIGHT AND LEVEL FLIGHT WITH NO STALL WARNING. THE LEFT MAIN GEAR TOUCHED DOWN, THE AIRCRAFT BOUNCED UP AND THE PILOT APPLIED POWER FOR A GO AROUND. AT THIS POINT ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ DECIDED TO MAKE A 180 LEFT TURN AND RETURN TO 7VG0. ON APPROACH TO RUNWAY 04 ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ BRIEFED HIS ONLY PASSENGER ON THE PROCEDURE AND SET THE AIRCRAFT UP FOR A RIGHT MAIN LANDING GEAR TOUCH DOWN ON RUNWAY 04. WHEN ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ HAD A TOUCH DOWN POINT ESTABLISHED HE INITIATED THE EMERGENCY SHUT DOWN PROCEDURES. ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ TOUCHED DOWN RIGHT MAIN FIRST AND MAINTAINED A STRAIGHT TRACK UNTIL THE LEFT WING SETTLED TO THE GROUND. ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ AND HIS PASSENGER WERE NOT HURT.
