## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

PILOT WAS ATTEMPTING TO LAND ON A GRASS STRIP AT THE ROXBURY, NY AIRPORT DUE TO DETERIORATING WEATHER. THE PILOT STATED THAT UPON TOUCHING DOWN, HE REALIZED THAT HE HAD LITTLE TO NO BREAKING DUE TO WET FIELD CONDITIONS. THE PILOT STATED THAT HE REALIZED HE WAS NOT GOING TO BE ABLE TO STOP ON THE GRASS STRIP AND INITIATED A GO-AROUND. THE AIRCRAFT, STILL IN THE LANDING CONFIGURATION WAS UNABLE TO CLEAR POWER LINES AND TREES AT THE DEPARTURE END OF THE RUNWAY. THE PILOT STATED THAT HE HEARD TWO TWANGS AS THE AIRCRAFT STRUCK THE POWER LINES FOLLOWED BY THE INITIAL IMPACT OF THE TREES. THE PILOT STATED THE AIRCRAFT THEN SPUN AS THE ENGINE WAS SHEERED FROM THE AIRFRAME. ALL PIECES CAME TO REST AT THE TREELINE. THE PILOT STATED THAT HE HAD ADEQUATE FUEL ONBOARD, THAT THERE WERE NO CONTROL OR ENGINE MALFUNCTIONS.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ERA14CA238](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ERA14CA238), May 9, 2014: North American AT6 - C (N164EW), Roxbury, NY, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's failure to maintain adequate obstacle clearance, which resulted in the inflight collision with a power line.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
