## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

THE PILOT OF N4305A CONDUCTED A NORMAL APPROACH AT PORT MEADVILLE AIRPORT, MEADVILLE, PA. DURING THE COURSE OF THE APPROACH PHASE, THE PILOT STATED THAT WINDS WERE GUSTY WHEN ATTEMPTING TO LAND, A GO-AROUND WAS ATTEMPTED. INSTEAD OF CONTINUING THE BALKED LANDING, THE PILOT DECIDED THAT THE WIND HAD DISSIPATED ENOUGH TO ATTMPT A NORMAL LANDING. WITH SUFFICIENT RUNWAY REMAINING, THE AIRCRAFT ENCOUNTERED A GUST OF WIND WHICH THE PILOT IN COMMAND FAILED TO COMPENSATE FOR, THIS RESULTED IN THE AIRCRAFT EXITING THE PAVED SURFACE AT A LOW SPEED.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ERA14CA243](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ERA14CA243), May 9, 2014: Piper PA 22-150 (N4305A), Meadville, PA, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's failure to maintain directional control during an attempted go around in gusty wind conditions which resulted in a collision with terrain.
