## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

WINDSOCKS AT BOTH APPROACH ENDS (RUNWAY 6/24) SHOWED TAILWIND. PILOTS OBSERVED LANDING AFTER INCIDENT CHOSE TO LAND 1/2 TO 3/4 DOWN THE RUNWAY TO ENSURE HEADWIND. INCIDENT PILOT ATTEMPTED TO LAND NEAR APPROACH END AND ENCOUNTERED SIGNIFICANT TAILWIND. PILOT LOST CONTROL DURING TAILWIND AND GUSTY CONDITIONS, RESULTING IN GROUND LOOP WHEN PILOT ATTEMPTED TO CORRECT BACK TO CENTERLINE. LEFT WING SCRAPED ON GROUND AND LEFT LANDING GEAR COLLAPSED.

THIS INCIDENT OCCURRED DURING AN AVIATION EVENT AND UNOFFICIAL ADVISORIES AND INFORMATION WERE BEING GIVEN OVER THE CTAF FREQUENCY BY AIRSHOW PERSONS, INCLUDING PATTERN ENTRY INSTRUCTIONS, SEQUENCE AND LANDING CLEARANCE. THIS MAY HAVE CONTRIBUTED TO THE INCIDENT AND PRESSURED THE PILOT TO LAND ON THE RUNWAY WITH TAILWIND INDICATED. THE PIC SAID THAT FOLLOWING THE INCIDENT ANOTHER PILOT TOLD THE "ADVISORY CONTROL TOWER" THAT HE WAS NOT GOING TO LAND ON THE RUNWAY DEEMED "ACTIVE" BY THE "ADVISORY CONTROL TOWER" DUE TO THE WINDS.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
