## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

PILOT ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ LANDED THE TAILWHEEL AIRCRAFT ON 28 RIGHT AT MYF. THE WINDS AT THE TIME WERE 320 @16 GUSTING TO 23 KNOTS. HE DECIDED THAT THE SANTA ANA CONDITIONS WERE INCREASING THE VELOCITY OF THE WINDS BEYOND HIS SKILL LEVEL AND SO AFTER LANDING ON 28R, HE THEN TAXIED CLEAR OF THE RUNWAY AND WAITED TO BE SWITCHED TO GROUND CONTROL. AS HE WAITED BETWEEN THE RUNWAYS FOR THE GROUND CONTROLLER TO GIVE HIM TAXI INSTRUCTIONS, A VERY STRONG WIND GUST PICKED UP THE TAIL OF THE AIRCRAFT AND PUSHED THE RUNNING PROPELLER INTO THE GROUND. ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ SAID IT WAS VERY ABRUPT AND HE HAD HIS FLIGHT CONTROLS DEFLECTED PROPERLY. HE SAID HE IMMEDIATELY SHUT DOWN THE ENGINE THERE ON THE TAXIWAY, AND ASKED THE CONTROLLER FOR A TOW. PROP DAMAGE WAS SIGNIFICANT AND IT WAS REPLACED. THE ENGINE WAS ALSO INSPECTED.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
