## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

INITIAL REPORT STATED THAT N521SH SKIDDED 1800FT DOWN RWY 3 AT GCN AFTER A BLOWN TIRE AND CAME TO REST OFF THE RIGHT SIDE OF RWY IN THE MEDIAN.

INSPECTOR RECIEVED A WRITTEN STATEMENT FROM PIC AIRMAN ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ STATING THE FOLLOWING:

"I WAS CLEARED FOR RUNWAY 03 BY THE KGCN TOWER AND FLEW A RIGHT-HAND PATTERN AS INSTRUCTED. THERE WAS LITTLE WIND AND VISIBILITY WAS GOOD. I MOVED THE FLAPS TO 10 DEGREES, LOWERED THE LANDING GEAR, AND THEN MOVED THE FLAPS TO 40 DEGREES ON DOWNWIND ACCORDING TO STANDARD PRACTICE FOR THIS PLANE. ON FINAL, I ESTABLISHED 80 KTS AND CARRIED THAT SPEED OVER THE RUNWAY NUMBERS. SINCE I WAS OVER THE RUNWAY AT THE PROPER SPEED, I CUT ENGINE POWER TO IDLE AND FLARED ABOVE THE RUNWAY. I THINK I FLARED HIGHER THAN NORMAL, AND I HELD A STEADY PITCH ATTITUDE. AS THE AIRSPEED DECREASED, THE AIRPLANE MADE A SHARPER THAN EXPECTED DROP TO THE RUNWAY RESULTING IN A HARD LANDING. I BELIEVE PART OF THE LANDING GEAR BROKE AT THAT POINT BECAUSE I LOST DIRECTIONAL CONTROL, AND THE PLANE SKIDDED OFF THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE RUNWAY INTO A GRASSY AREA."

INSPECTOR STATEMENT:

THE WEATHER CONDITOIN AT THE TIME OF THE ACCIDENT WERE; WIND WAS 31008KTS AND CLR. SPEAKING WITH PIC ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ HE ALSO STATED THAT WEATHER WAS NOT A FACTOR.

REVIEWING PHOTOS FROM THE ACCIDENT OF THE DAMAGE TO THE LANDING GEAR; THERE IS BUCKLING OF THE MAIN STRUTS AND A DAMAGE ACTUATOR. THIS DAMAGE CONCURRS WITH THE PIC STATEMENT OF HAVING A HARD LANDING.

THERE DOES NOT APPEAR TO BE ANY OTHER FACTORS THAT CONTRIBUTED TO THE ACCIDENT.

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.
