## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

N40TC CRASHED AFTER TAKEOFF AT FHU ON 5/17/2014. THE AIRCRAFT HAD NORMAL RUN UP AND TAKE OFF. AT THE END OF THE RUNWAY THE LANDING GEAR WAS RETRACTED. SOON AFTER THE AIRCRAFT LOST POWER IN BOTH ENGINES AND BEGAN RAPID DESCENT. THE PIC ATTEMPTED TO TURN THE AIRCRAFT BACK TOWARDS THE RUNWAY INSTEAD OF ATTEMPTED TO LAND STRAIGHT AHEAD IN THE AREA.

RESULTING INVESTIGATION OF THE CAUSE OF THE EVENT IS THAT BOTH ENGINES RAN OUT OF FUEL - EVEN THOUGH THE AIRCRAFT WAS FULLY FUELED (EXCESS OF 100 GALLONS RECOVERED). CAUSE OF NO FUEL TO ENGINES IS THAT THE FUEL SHUT OFF VALVES HAD BEEN ACTIVATED TO OFF (SOLENOID OPERATION - THE VALVE ONLY OPERATES UNDER POWER).

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)
