## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

THE PILOT STATED: MONDAY 5/19/2014 AT ABOUT 2:30 PM. N9316K AT ARB WEATHER WAS CLEAR, WIND WAS REPORTED AS OUT OF 180

AFTER PREFLIGHTING IN MY HANGAR IN THE NE "TEES", I MOVED TO THE RUN UP AREA AND DID A NORMAL RUN UP.

AFTER I WAS CLEARED FOR TAKE OFF I MOVED INTO POSITION ON RUNWAY 24 AND APPLIED POWER. THE AIRCRAFT BEGAN TO TURN LEFT AND MY CONTROL INPUTS WOULD NOT STRAIGHTEN IT OUT. I IMMEDIATELY PULLED POWER AS THE AIRCRAFT EXITED THE RUNWAY INTO THE GRASS LEFT OF THE RUNWAY. MY LEFT GEAR LEG MUST HAVE ENCOUNTERED A RUNWAY LIGHT AS THE FAIRING ON THE LEFT GEAR LEG WAS DAMAGED. AFTER STOPPING I WAS ABLE, WITH CLEARANCE FROM THE TOWER, TO TAXI BACK TO MY HANGAR. DURING THE TAXI BACK THE AIRCRAFT SEEMED TO BE NORMALLY CONTROLLABLE.

I SUSPECT THAT THE LEFT BRAKE STUCK OR THE TAILWHEEL DID NOT LOCK AFTER MY TURN ONTO THE RUNWAY.

AN AIRCRAFT LOG ENTRY WAS MADE STATING; CHECKED THE TAILWHEEL AND BRAKES FOR PROPER FUNCTION. AIRCRAFT TAXI TESTED AND TEST FLOWN, ALL SYSTEMS FUNCTION NORMAL.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
