WHILE CONDUCTING AERIAL APPLICATION ON A FIELD THE AIRCRAFT TAIL ROTOR MADE CONTACT WITH A TREE, TRAVELED APPROXIMATELY 70 YARDS AND CRASHED INTO THE ROOF OF A STRUCTURE. THE PILOT SUSTAINED SERIOUS INJURIES WHICH BECAME FATAL ON 06/05/2014.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CEN14LA418](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CEN14LA418), May 28, 2014: Texas Helicopter OH 13H/M74A (N51853), Little Falls, MN, substantial damage, 1 fatal. Probable cause: The pilot's failure to maintain clearance from a tree at the edge of a field that he was spraying.

## Other reports on N51853 (1)

Matched to the same aircraft by N-number and date.

- [Accident 19810925064169A](https://openairdocs.org/incident/19810925064169A), Sep 25, 1981: Bell OH13HTEXHELI (N51853), Yuma, AZ, Substantial damage. Struck telephone wires on pullup from a spray run. Wires tangled in main rotors.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
