## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

THE AIRCRAFT PILOT^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ REPORTED TO FORT WORTH SPINKS (CONTRACT) TOWER THAT HE HIT A LARGE BIRD DURING TAKEOFF FROM RUNWAY 17R (RIGHT).

IN A TELEPHONE INTERVIEW, THE PILOT REPORTED THAT DURING A NORMAL TAKEOFF, HE STRUCK A BIRD. AT ABOUT 1200 FEET, AGL, HE SAW A LARGE BIRD IN A DIVE WITH ITS WINGS TUCKED INTO ITS BODY. THE AIRCRAFT WAS CLIMBING AT 140 KNOTS AND THE PILOT PERFORMED AN EVASIVE MANEUVER TO AVOID THE BIRD. THE PILOT REPORTED THE BIRD STRIKE TO THE TOWER, STAYED IN THE TRAFFIC PATTERN AND LANDED.

THE DAMAGE WAS LIMITED TO THE LEFT WING LEADING EDGE APPROXIMATELY THREE AND A HALF FEET FROM THE WING TIP. THERE WERE NO INJURIES ABOARD THE AIRCRAFT.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
