## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

AIRCRAFT N111TA DEPARTED MIDDLE GEORGIA REGIONAL AIRPORT (MCN), ENROUTE TO AUGUSTA REGIONAL-BUSH FIELD (AGS), AT APPROXIMATELY 0900. AFTER COMPLETING THE REQUIRED PRE-FLIGHT INSPECTION THE PILOT TOOK OFF TO 4000 FEET. THE PILOT CONFIGURED THE AIRCRAFT FOR CRUISE BY LEVELING OFF THE AIRCRAFT, LEAN THE ENGINE, PULLED BACK THE THROTTLE TO 2450 RPM AND TRIMMED THE AIRCRAFT. ABOUT TWO MINUTES LATER THE PILOT NOTICED A DROP IN ALTITUDE AND A DROP IN RPM BY 100 - 150. THE PILOT TRIED TO ADD MORE POWER BUT THE ENGINE DID NOT RESPOND AND THE OIL PRESSURE GAUGE WAS AT ZERO. THE PILOT CONTACTED ATC AND INFORMED THEM THAT HE HAD NO OIL PRESSURE AND HEADING BACK TO MCN. THE ENGINE WAS STILL RUNNING, NOT ROUGH, BUT PILOT COULD NOT HOLD ALTITUDE. THE PILOT REQUESTED A CLEARANCE BACK TO MCN BUT ATC INFORMED HIM THAT MAC WAS MUCH CLOSER. SHORTLY THERE AFTER THE ENGINE BEGAN TO SPUTTER AND THE PROPELLER STOPPED. THE PILOT REALIZED HE COULD NOT MAKE MAC SO DECIDED TO LAND THE AIRCRAFT ON RIGGINS MILL ROAD. THE PILOT CENTERED THE AIRCRAFT TO THE ROAD, FULL FLAPS DOWN AND PUSHED THE NOSE DOWN. PILOT LANDED THE AIRCRAFT SMOOTHLY BUT WHILE AVOIDING A SIGN THE LEFT LEADING EDGE CONTACTED A MAIL BOX CAUSING A DENT IN THE LEFT LEADING EDGE AND A SMALL PUNCTURE UNDER THE LEFT WING.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
