## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

WHILE CONDUCTING A ?CHECK OUT? FLIGHT FOR A NEW CUSTOMER, THE PIC BEGAN TO PERFORM SEVERAL MANEUVERS TO INCLUDE STEEP TURNS. THE PIC SELECTED THE GEAR DOWN AND INDICATED THAT HE DID NOT GET A DOWN AND LOCKED. AFTER MAKING SEVERAL ATTEMPTS TO GET THE GEAR DOWN AND LOCKED, THE PIC MADE A GEAR UP LANDING AT SDL AIRPORT.

POST INCIDENT REVIEW OF THE AIRCRAFT REVEALED THAT THE RIGHT HAND MAIN GEAR ACTUATOR HOUSING IS CRACKED IN TWO PLACES. AT ONE PLACE, THE CRACK PROTRUDED COMPLETELY THROUGH THE ACTUATOR HOUSING WHICH ALLOWED THE ACTUATOR ?PISTON RACK? TO FAIL TO ENGAGE THE ?SECTOR GEAR? CORRECTLY, WHICH RESULTED IN THE RIGHT HAND MAIN GEAR TO NOT OBTAIN THE DOWN AND LOCKED POSITION.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
