## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

PILOT DEPARTED 2M8 AT APPROXIMATLY 1300L WITH WHAT HE THOUGHT WAS FULL FUEL. HE TOPPED OFF THE RIGHT TANK WITH FUEL THE DAY PRIOR. AROUND HOT SPRINGS ARKANSAS AT 10,500 FEET THE RIGHT TANK RAN DRY SO HE SWITCHED TO THE LEFT TANK. 36 MILES FROM F46 HIS DESTINATION HE BEGAN HIS DECENT. PASSING THROUGH 4000 FEET THE ENGINE BEGAN TO SPUTTER AND SEEMED TO STOP BUT THE PROPELLER KEPT TURNING. HE HAD HIS DESTINATION AIRPORT F46 IN SIGHT BUT WAS STILL 10 MILES AWAY. HE ATTEMPED TO GLIDE TO THE AIRPORT AND WHEN HE REALIZED HE WOULD NOT MAKE THE AIRPORT BEGAN LOOKING FOR A ROAD TO LAND ON. TRAFFIC AND POWER LINES ON SEVERAL ROADS MADE LANDING ON NORTH COUNTY LANE ROAD THE BEST OPTION. HE SLOWED TO MISS TREES AND WAS THEN FORCED TO TOUCH DOWN FIRM AND SLOW.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CEN14LA293](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CEN14LA293), Jun 16, 2014: Knauf RV-7 (N707HK), Rockwall, TX, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's failure to verify the airplane's actual fuel quantity before departure, which resulted in a total loss of engine power due to fuel exhaustion and the subsequent forced landing.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
