## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

PILOT REPORTED ARRIVING OVER THE LANDING STRIP AT 11,000 FEET MSL AND OBSERVED THE WIND SOCK WHILE DESCENDING TO NORMAL TRAFFIC PATTERN ALTITUDE. WINDS WERE GUSTY, BUT DOWN THE RUNWAY. WHILE ON SHORT FINAL, PILOT EXPERIENCED WIND SHEAR RESULTING IN A TAIL WIND. WITH 40 DEGREES OF FLAPS AND A FULL SLIP, THE PILOT REPORTED THAT HE WAS STILL UNABLE TO GET THE AIRPLANE DOWN. DUE TO THE SURROUNDING TERRAIN, THIS AIRFIELD HAS NO POSSIBLE GO-AROUND OPTIONS WHEN ON SHORT FINAL. AIRPLANE LANDED LONG AND RAN OFF THE END OF THE RUNWAY, NOSE GEAR SHEARED OFF WITH THE AIRPLANE FLIPPING ONTO ITS BACK. THE PILOT AND PASSENGER WERE UNINJURED AND THE AIRPLANE EXPERIENCED SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB WPR14CA264](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/WPR14CA264), Jun 19, 2014: Cessna 175A (N7936T), Salmon, ID, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's failure to attain the proper touchdown point that resulted in a runway overrun.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
