## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

PILOT REPORTED HE WAS GOING TO PERFORM A PRECAUTIONARY LANDING DUE TO INCREASING OIL TEMPERATURE. PILOT ALSO REPORTED THERE WERE NO OTHER ENGINE INDICATIONS AND THE ENGINE WAS RUNNING NORMAL. HE WAS ABLE TO FIND AN ABANDONED DIRT STRIP AND PROCEEDED TO LAND. DURING LANDING THE PILOT HAD NO INDICATION OF WIND DIRECTION. ON LANDING THE AIRCRAFT BOUNCED AND A GUST OF WIND FORCED THE AIRCRAFT TO THE RIGHT AND INTO THE GROUND, CAUSING THE AIRCRAFT TO BOUNCE AGAIN AND HE THEN LOST CONTROL STRIKING WING TIPS AND COLLAPSING THE RIGHT GEAR. AIRCRAFT BOUNCED AGAIN THEN STRUCK BOTH LEFT AND RIGHT WING TIPS. RIGHT GEAR SPRING BENT AND COLLAPSED. AIRCRAFT CAME TO REST IN A DITCH.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB WPR14CA268](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/WPR14CA268), Jun 25, 2014: Cessna L19 - A (N5264G), Firebaugh, CA, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's inadequate compensation for the wind conditions in the landing area, which resulted in a loss of directional control and encounter with soft terrain and vegetation.
