## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

N619PD WAS PRACTICING AEROBATICS AT KJWY IN A APPROVED FAA AEROBATIC BOX. AIRMAN COMPLETED HIS AEROBATIC ROUTINE AND WANTED TO ATTEMPT A NEW MANEUVER, WHICH HE HAD NOT TRIED BEFORE. N619PD ENTERED THE MANEUVER AND LOST CONTROL. IMPROPER RECOVERY TECHNIQUE RESULTED IN AN ENTRY INTO AN UNCONTROLLABLE FLAT INVERTED SPIN. N619PD VERTICALLY IMPACTED THE GROUND INVERTED.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CEN14FA325](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CEN14FA325), Jun 28, 2014: Doyle James E Skybolt (N619PD), Midlothian, TX, substantial damage, 1 fatal. Probable cause: The pilot’s loss of airplane control while performing an aerobatic maneuver, which resulted in an inverted spin and subsequent collision with terrain.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
