## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

JULY 3, 2014 A PIPER PA25-235 REGISTRATION N8730L WAS CONDUCTING APPLICATION OPERATIONS UNDER 14 CFR PART 137 NEAR SUGARCAMP WISCONSIN. THE AIRCRAFT MADE A UNSCHEDULED LANDING IN A POTATO FIELD AND CAME TO REST NOSED OVER THEN UPSIDE DOWN. THE PILOT WAS THE ONLY OCCUPANT AND WAS NOT INJURED. AT THE END OF A SPRAY SWATH, THE PILOT PULLED UP TO MAKE A TURN FOR AN OPPOSITE DIRECTION PASS. AS THE AIRCRAFT WAS PULLED UP THE GPS LIGHT BAR FLASHED AND THE ENGINE LOST POWER. THE PILOT WAS ABLE TO COMPLETE THE TURN AND LAND IN THE POTATO FIELD. THE AIRCRAFT DID NOSE OVER AND FLIPPED ON IT'S BACK SIDE.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CEN14CA344](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CEN14CA344), Jul 3, 2014: Piper PA 25-235 (N8730L), Rhinelander, WI, substantial damage. Probable cause: A loss of engine power due to the pilot's improper inflight planning and reliance of fuel gauge readings, which resulted in fuel exhaustion.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
