## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

I ARRIVED ON SCENE AND OBSERVED THE CESSNA C-172 INVERTED AGAINST A FENCE AT A BALL FIELD. THE AIRCRAFT WAS DESTROYED. THERE WAS EXTENSIVE DAMAGE TO THE FUSELAGE, BOTH WINGS, THE TAIL CONE, AND THE ENGINE COWLING. THE AIRCRAFT HAD STRUCK THE ELECTRIC TRANSMISSION LINES 200 FEET WEST OF THE IMPACT LOCATION.

THE DOORS HAD BEEN REMOVED TO FACILITATE THE REMOVAL OF THE PILOT AND PASSENGERS. ALL THREE PERSONS ONBOARD HAD RECEIVED EXTENSIVE INJURIES. THEY WERE TRANSPORTED BY LIFE FLIGHT TO MEMORIAL HERMAN HOSPITAL IN HOUSTON.

THE TEXAS DEPARTMENT OF SAFETY OFFICER AT THE SCENE INDICATED THERE WERE TWO WITNESSES AND THAT THE BAYTOWN POLICE HAD THEIR STATEMENTS.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CEN14LA347](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CEN14LA347), Jul 8, 2014: Cessna 172H (N3732R), Baytown, TX, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot’s failure to verify the fuel onboard before the flight, which resulted in a total loss of engine power due to fuel exhaustion.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
