## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

PILOT PERFORMS A NORMAL START UP AND TAXIS TO RUNWAY 17L AT KAPA. AFTER RECEIVING TAKEOFF CLEARANCE, HE ADVANCES THE POWER CONTROL LEVER (PCL) WITH NO INCREASE IN POWER. HE ADVANCES IT A SECOND TIME AND STILL NO POWER. HE ADVISES THE TOWER CONTROLLER THAT HE HAS TO CHECK A PROBLEM. HE THEN TAKES THE MANUAL OVERRIDE LEVER (MOR) OUT OF THE DETENT IN ORDER TO HAVE POWER TO TAXI AWAY FROM THE HOLD SHORT LINE. AT THAT INSTANT, HE SAW A BALL OF FIRE COMING FROM THE ENGINE AREA. HE SHUT EVERYTHING DOWN AND EXITS THE AIRCRAFT. HE DID NOT SEE ANY FIRE. HE THEN CALLED TOWER THAT SENDS EMERGENCY EQUIPMENT OUT AND THE THE PLANE IS TOWED TO A HANGAR.
