## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

DURING THE LANDING ROLLOUT, THE AIRPLANE BEGAN TO VEER TO THE LEFT, SO HE APPLIED RIGHT RUDDER TO CORRECT THE TURN. NOT SENSING THAT RIGHT RUDDER WAS STOPPING THE TURN, THE PILOT STATED THAT HE APPLIED RIGHT BRAKE. WHEN THE RIGHT BRAKE WAS APPLIED, THE PILOT STATED THAT THE AIRPLANE VEERED ABRUPTLY TO THE RIGHT AND THE LEFT MAIN LANDING GEAR COLLAPSED UNDER THE BELLY OF THE FUSELAGE. THE LEFT WING TIP AND ONE PROPELLOR TIP SHOWED EVIDENCE OF CONTACTING THE RUNWAY.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB WPR14CA288](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/WPR14CA288), Jul 8, 2014: Piper PA 17 (N4842H), Sand Point, ID, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's failure to maintain directional control of the airplane during taxi.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
