## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

WHILE DEPARTING OTHELLO MUNICIPAL AIRPORT (S70) TO THE WEST, SHORTLY AFTER ROTATION THE LEFT ENGINE LOST POWER. THE AIRCRAFT WAS UNABLE TO SUSTAIN FLIGHT. THE PILOT DID NOT HAVE TIME TO EXTEND THE LANDING GEAR PRIOR TO CONTACTING THE GROUND. THE AIRCRAFT CONTACTED THE GROUND AND SLID TO A STOP ON THE SOUTH SIDE OF THE RUNWAY. SUSTAINED SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE TO BOTH WINGS AND THE FUSELAGE. FOUR SOULS ON BOARD, NO INJURIES. ALL EXITED THE AIRCRAFT UNASSISTED.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB WPR14LA298](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/WPR14LA298), Jul 17, 2014: Piper PA 30 (N7981Y), Othello, WA, substantial damage. Probable cause: The partial loss of engine power for reasons that could not be determined based on the available information.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
