## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

PIC (SOLE OCCUPANT) WAS RETURNING TO BARNES AIRPORT (BAF) IN WESTFIELD, MA FROM ONEONTA (N66). DURING CRUISE AT APPROX. 3500 FEET, PIC EXPERIENCED AN ENGINE FAILURE AND LANDED IN A FIELD NEAR ATHENS, NY (GREENE COUNTY). PIC STATED THAT HE DID NOT EXPERIENCE ANY MECHANICAL PROBLEMS PRIOR TO THE ENGINE FAILURE. THE ENGINE WAS RECENTLY INSTALLED BY TITAN AIRCRAFT COMPANY AND IS BEING SHIPPED BACK TO THEM FOR INSPECTION AND FAILURE ANALYSIS TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE, IF POSSIBLE.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
