## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

PILOT LANDING ON RUNWAY 25 WITH A SLIGHT CROSSWIND. TOUCHED DOWN BEYOND THE HALFWAY MARK OF THE 2298 FOOT RUNWAY.

HE STATED IT WAS TOO LATE TO INITIATE A GO AROUND AND TOO LITTLE ROOM TO COME TO A STOP BEFORE RUNNING OFF THE END OF THE RUNWAY. THE AIRCRAFT CAME TO REST 300 FEET PAST THE END OF THE RUNWAY OFF TO THE RIGHT SIDE AND IMPACTED A TREELINE THERE. AN UNIDENTIFIED EYEWITNESS LATER STATED TO THE PILOT THAT HE HAD LANDED WITH A TAILWIND.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ERA14CA364](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ERA14CA364), Jul 19, 2014: Cessna 177B (N18509), Falmouth, MA, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's misjudgment of speed and distance on final approach resulting in a touchdown near the departure end of the runway, a runway excursion, and collision with trees.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
