## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

DESCRIPTION:

THE SINGLE ENGINE AIRCRAFT WAS BEING OPERATED BY A PRIVATE PILOT WHO HELD A MULTI-ENGINE CERTIFICATE ONLY. SEVERAL ATTEMPTS AT A LANDING WERE MADE, AND AT SOME POINT THE PROPELLER STRUCK THE SURFACE OF THE RUNWAY. THE PILOT WAS NOT AWARE OF THE PROP STRIKE UNTIL AFTER HE WAS ABLE TO MAKE A FULL STOP LANDING.

CAUSAL/CONTRIBUTING FACTOR:

THE AIRMAN'S DECISION TO FLY AN AIRCRAFT THAT HE WAS NOT QUALIFIED IN.

RECOMMENDATION:

THE AIRMAN RECEIVE TRAINING AND A CERTIFICATE TO OPERATE AN AIRPLANE SINGLE ENGINE LAND AIRCRAFT.

COMMENTS: NONE

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
