## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

DURING AN INSTRUCTIONAL FLIGHT THE CREW WENT THROUGH A SETTLING WITH POWER MANUVER. IMMEDIATELY UPON RECOVERY THE INSTRUCTOR SIMULATED AN ENGINE FAILURE. THE STUDENT MANUVERED THE AIRCRAFT TO A SAFE LANDING AREA. AS THE AIRCRAFT APPROACHED THE GROUND THE STUDENT MADE A CONTROL INPUT THAT THE INSTUCTOR DID NOT AGREE WITH. THE INSTRUCTOR THEN TOOK THE CONTROLS AND TRIED TO RECOVER THE AIRCRAFT. THE TAIL SKID MADE CONTACT WITH THE GROUND FOLLOWED BY THE LEFT REAR MAIN SKID AND THE AIRCRAFT ROLLED OVER ON IT'S LEFT SIDE.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ERA14CA348](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ERA14CA348), Jul 21, 2014: Schweizer 269C (N1830D), Titusville, FL, substantial damage. Probable cause: The student pilot's failure to initiate the decelerative flare during autorotation and the CFI's delayed remedial action, which resulted in a hard landing.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
