PILOT REPORTED THAT HE WAS FLYING THE AIRCRAFT FROM THE FRONT SEAT AND HAD A PASSENGER IN THE REAR SEAT. PILOT REPORTED THAT HE DID NOT BRIEF THE PASSENGER ABOUT KEEPING HIS FEET OFF THE BRAKE PEDALS.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CEN14CA404](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CEN14CA404), Jul 31, 2014: Piper PA 18 (N8461D), Traverse City, MI, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's loss of directional control during landing, resulting in a runway excursion and the airplane nosing over.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
