## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

AIRMAN HAD BEEN "SHAKING DOWN" THE AIRCRAFT AND THIS WAS INTENDED AS A HIGH SPEED TAXI ONLY. DURING HIGH SPEED TAXI, RIGHT WING CAME UP AND AIRCRAFT BECAME AIRBORNE. AIRCRAFT CRASHED INTO THE WOODS SHORTLY THEREAFTER.

AIRMAN HAS A MECHANIC CERTIFICATE BUT NO PILOT CERTIFICATE OF ANY KIND. AIRCRAFT IS NOT CERTIFICATED; I.E. NO AIRWORTHINESS CERTIFICATE EXISTS FOR AIRCRAFT.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ANC14CA059](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ANC14CA059), Aug 2, 2014: Steven R Mcneese Airborne Edge X (N821AK), Palmer, AK, substantial damage. Probable cause: The non-certificated pilot's failure to maintain directional control while performing a high speed taxi test and inadvertent lift-off, which resulted in an inflight collision with trees and terrain.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
