## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

WHILE ATTEMPTING TO MAKE THE THIRD LANDING ON A WILLAMETTE RIVER ISLAND (45.13.03W ? 123.02.54N) DIRECTLY EAST OF THE TOWN OF DAYTON OREGON, THE PILOT TOUCHED DOWN IN THE SOFT SAND. THE AIRCRAFT BEGAN TO SLOW AND QUICKLY BECAME UNCONTROLLABLE. THE AIRCRAFT FLIPPED TAIL OVER NOSE, COMING TO REST ON ITS BACK CAUSING SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB WPR14CA326](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/WPR14CA326), Aug 3, 2014: Piper PA20 - Undesignat (N7462K), Dayton, OR, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's decision to land on an unsuitable surface, which resulted in a nose over.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
