## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

PILOT STATEMENT REGARDING N84GN AUGUST 10TH, 2014 LANDING ACCIDENT.

AT THE COMPLETION OF AN OTHERWISE NORMAL LOCAL FLIGHT IN MY RV-8, N84GN AT APPROXIMATELY 2:10PM I HAD A LANDING ACCIDENT ON RUNWAY 30 AT SAN CARLOS, CALIFORNIA (KSQL). AFTER A NORMAL

TOUCHDOWN FOR A WHEEL LANDING, THE AIRCRAFT SLOWED AND THE TAIL WHEEL CAME DOWN NORMALLY. WITH THE LANDING ASSURED I BEGAN TO BRAKE THE AIRCRAFT AND AS SOON AS PRESSURE WAS APPLIED THE LEFT BRAKE COMPLETELY LOCKED.

DUE TO THE LEFT BRAKE LOCKING, THE AIRPLANE CAME AROUND TO THE LEFT. I APPLIED OPPOSITE (RIGHT) RUDDER

AND BRAKES TO TRY AND STOP THE ROTATION, BUT THE RIGHT BRAKE THEN LOCKED CAUSING THE AIRPLANE TO

NOSE OVER AND COME TO REST ON THE SPINNER.

I SUBSEQUENTLY DETERMINED THE CAUSE OF THE LOCKED BRAKES TO BE ACTIVATION OF THE AIRCRAFT PARKING

BRAKE VALVE. THIS ACTIVATION WAS CAUSED BY THE SHEATH OF THE PARKING BRAKE ACTUATOR CABLE SLIPPING IN A CLAMP ALLOWING THE VALVE TO ACTUATE ON ITS OWN.

DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT INCLUDES: PROP BLADES & SPINNER DESTROYED. ENGINE REQUIRES PROP STRIKE INSPECTION. DAMAGED WHEEL PANTS. MINOR STRUCTURAL DEFORMATION OF THE LEFT GEAR TOWER AND SKINS.

I FURTHER ACKNOWLEDGE RECEIPT OF WRITTEN NOTIFICATION OF YOUR INVESTIGATION OF THIS INCIDENT, AND

HAVE ATTACHED A SIGNED COPY OF THAT NOTICE TO THIS DOCUMENT.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
