## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

THE PILOT WAS ATTEMPTING A TAKEOFF FROM RUNWAY 21 AT RKD, A GRASS STRIP THAT RUNS PARALLEL TO THE PAVED RUNWAY 21. THIS WAS A MUSEUM SPONSORED DEMONSTRATION FLIGHT. DURING TAKEOFF ROLL THE ENGINE EXPERIENCED A BACKFIRE AND SPUTTER THAT RESULTED IN REDUCED POWER FROM THE ENGINE. THE PILOT ABORTED THE TAKEOFF, SET IDLE AND APPLIED BRAKING. THE AIRCRAFT HAD NEARLY COME TO A STOP WHEN A SLIGHT DIP IN THE RUNWAY WAS ENCOUNTERED THAT RESULTED IN THE AIRCRAFT SLOWLY NOSING OVER. DAMAGE WAS LIMITED TO THE PROP TIPS, LOWER ENGINE COWL AND WHEEL PANTS.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
