## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

AFTER MAKING SEVERAL HIGH SPEED TAXIS ON THE GRASS RUNWAY, THE PILOT WAS OBSERVED TO PROCEED DOWN THE RUNWAY AND TAKEOFF. WITNESSES DESCRIBED THE SOUND OF THE AIRCRAFT'S ENGINE AS HAVING A SURGING CHARACTERISTIC. SHORTLY AFTER BECOMING AIRBORNE, THE AIRCRAFT MADE A SHARP BANK TO THE RIGHT, AND THEN LEVELED, CLIMBING VERY SLOWLY. THE AIRCRAFT WAS THEN OBSERVED TO BANK SHARPLY TO THE LEFT AND DESCEND INTO A FIELD ADJACENT TO THE AIRPORT. A LOUD NOISE WAS HEARD BY WITNESSES, FOLLOWED ALMOST IMMEDIATELY BY THE SIGHT OF A RISING PLUME OF SMOKE. WITNESSES PROCEEDED TO THE CRASH SITE AND ASSISTED THE PILOT FROM THE WRECKAGE.
