## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

THE PILOT STATED: SHORTLY AFTER TOUCH DOWN ON RUNWAY 07R HIS VISIBILITY WAS REDUCED SIGNIFICANTLY BY DUST THAT HE BELIEVED WAS KICKED UP BY THE TOUCHDOWN AND POSSIBLE DOWNWIND LANDING. THE AIRCRAFT WENT OFF THE RUNWAY PREMATURELY. WHILE HE WAS STILL MOVING AROUND 10-20 MPH HE FELT THE TAIL WHEEL HIT SOMETHING AND WAS PUSHED BACK INTO THE AIR. HE TRIED USING THE ELEVATOR TO PULL THE TAIL BACK DOWN. IT CAME DOWN HARD AND BOUNCED BACK UP INTO THE AIR. HE THEN FELT THE MAINS SLOWING QUICKLY AND THE TAIL RAISING BACK UP INTO THE AIR. AT THIS POINT HE WAS NOT ABLE TO CONTROL THE TAIL ANY LONGER WITH THE ELEVATOR. THE PROPELLER THEN THE NOSE HIT THE GROUND AND THE AIRCRAFT FLIPPED OVER ONTO ITS BACK COMING TO REST INVERTED. VISIBLE DAMAGE TO AIRCRAFT WAS WINDSHIELD, WINGS, LIFT STRUTS, VERTICAL FIN, RUDDER, TOP COWLING, AND PROPELLER.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB WPR14CA366](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/WPR14CA366), Sep 6, 2014: Bellanca 8KCAB (N31273), Black Rock City, NV, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's failure to maintain directional control during landing. Contributing to the accident was the pilot's disorientation as a result of dust which reduced visibility.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
