## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

THE PIC OF THE ACCIDENT AIRPLANE STATED HE WAS ATTEMPTING TO TAKE OFF FROM A REMOTE DIRT RUNWAY (INDIAN VALLEY STRIP) WHICH IS 1100' LONG AND ORIENTED APPROXIMATELY 200°/020°. GOOGLE EARTH INDICATES AN ELEVATION OF 2750'ON THE NORTH END AND 2733' ON THE SOUTH END. THE RUNWAY IS APROXIMATLY 20' WIDE WITH FOILAGE ON EITHER SIDE. THE COORDINATES ARE N62° 47? 11 W144° 22? 43

THERE WERE THREE PASSENGERS; THE PIC STATED HE WAS UNDER GROSS WEIGHT BY APPROXIMATELY 200 POUNDS. THE PIC STATED THAT THE LEFT MAIN TIRE DEFLATED AT SOME POINT DURING THE TAKE OF ROLL WHICH CAUSED THE LEFT WING TO DROP AND THE AIRCRAFT TO VEER OFF TO THE LEFT. THE PIC WAS UNABLE TO CORRECT BACK TO THE CENTER OF THE STRIP. THE LEFT MAIN WHEEL WAS PASSING THROUGH FOLIAGE WHICH LIKELY WAS PREVENTING NORMAL ACCELERATION OF THE AIRCRAFT. AT THE END OF THE RUNWAY THE AIRCRAFT STRUCK TREES AND CONTINUED SOME DISTANCE OVER DROPPING TERRAIN BEFORE CRASHING.

WE WERE NOT ABLE TO VISIT THE SITE OF THE ACCIDENT OR SEE THE AIRCRAFT. PHOTOS OF THE ACCIDENT SITE SEEM TO INDICATE A DROP OFF OF THE TERRAIN AT THE DEPARTURE END.

THE AIRCRAFT RECEIVED SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ANC14CA077](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ANC14CA077), Sep 7, 2014: Cessna 185 (N432X), Gakona, AK, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's inability to maintain directional control after the airplane's main landing gear tire deflated during takeoff.

## Other reports on N432X (1)

Matched to the same aircraft by N-number and date.

- [Incident 20130909018769I](https://openairdocs.org/incident/20130909018769I), Sep 9, 2013: Cessna 185 (N432X), Gulkana, AK, Substantial damage. Excessively firm off airport landing.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
