## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

THE PILOT IN COMMAND WAS TAKING OFF FROM AN OFF AIRPORT STRIP. DURING ROTATION APPROXIMATELY 50 MPH, THE AIRCRAFT BOUNCED INTO THE AIR IN GROUND EFFECT. CROSSWIND PUSHED THE AIRCRAFT OVER THE EDGE OF THE HILL WHERE THE WIND CHANGED AND THE AIRCRAFT LOST ALTITUDE AND AIRSPEED. THE AIRCRAFT CAME TO REST APPROXIMATELY 800 FEET FROM WHERE IT BECAME AIRBORNE. ALSO THE AIRCRAFT WAS CONVERTED TO A TAIL WHEEL.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ANC14CA083](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ANC14CA083), Sep 16, 2014: Cessna 175 (N6589E), Ambler, AK, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's decision to takeoff from a rough airstrip in gusty wind conditions, which resulted in a loss of control.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
