## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

AIRMAN ATTEMPTED TAKE OFF FROM UNIMPROVED REMOTE STRIP. LACK OF ADEQUATE DIRECTIONAL CONTROL CAUSED THE AIRPLANE TO DRIFT OUT OF THE INTENDED TAKE OFF PATH, CAUSING THE LEFT MAIN GEAR TIRE TO DRIFT INTO LOW BRUSH. THE AIRPLANE FAILED TO ACHIEVE AND MAINTAIN ADEQUATE TAKE OFF SPEED AND SUBSEQUENTLY CRASHED, CAUSING SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE TO BOTH WINGS AND THE PROPELLER.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ANC14CA084](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ANC14CA084), Sep 17, 2014: Piper PA 18-150 (N1879P), Cantwell, AK, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's loss of directional control during takeoff from an off-airport site, which resulted in a collision with terrain.
