## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

LOCAL INCIDENT REPORT NUMBER IEA652014016.

AT 16:30, ON 09/18/2014, ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^, WITH HIS FATHER AS PASSENGER, WAS DEMONSTRATING A SOFT FIELD TAKEOFF FROM RUNWAY 13 (5007FT, PAVED) AT RKD. THE PILOT STATED THAT THE AIRCRAFT LIFTED OFF AND ?SORT OF WALLOWED ALONG? AS THEY FLEW ALONG THE RUNWAY. THEY DRIFTED OFF THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE RUNWAY UNTIL THE RIGHT MLG STRUCK THE PAPI LIGHTS AT THE FAR (DEPARTURE) END OF THE RUNWAY. THEY REMAINED AIRBORNE AND FLEW AROUND THE LOCAL AREA WHILE THEY ASSESSED THE SITUATION. THE PILOT CONTACTED PEOPLE ON THE GROUND (WITH HIS CELL PHONE) AND THEY CALLED THE FIRE DEPARTMENT. WHEN THE FIRE DEPARTMENT ARRIVED, HE MADE AN APPROACH FOR LANDING PARALLEL TO RUNWAY 31 ON THE GRASS ON THE LEFT SIDE OF RUNWAY 31. HE TOUCHED DOWN GENTLY ON THE LEFT MLG AND HELD THE RIGHT MLG OFF AS LONG AS POSSIBLE. THE AIRCRAFT CAME TO REST ON THE GRASS WITH MINIMAL DAMAGE. BOTH OCCUPANTS SAFELY EXITED THE AIRCRAFT WITH NO INJURIES. THE PILOT REPORTS THAT ONLY THE PROP AND THE RIGHT MLG WERE DAMAGED.

HE SAID THE WIND WAS APPROXIMATELY 340 DEGREES AT 10 KTS WHEN HE LANDED.

THE PILOT HAD PREVIOUSLY ALLOWED HIS MEDICAL TO EXPIRE AND HE HAS SINCE BEEN OPERATING AS A LIGHT SPORT PILOT.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
