## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

THE PILOT DEPARTED HDH AIRFIELD AT 11:10 AM ON A GLIDER TOW TO 3000 FEET. DURING THE DESCENT AT APPROXIMATELY 2000 FEET THE AIRCRAFT LOST POWER. THE PILOT DECLARED AN EMERGENCY AND GLIDED TOWARD THE AIRPORT BUT COULD NOT MAKE THE AIRPORT RUNWAY. THEREFORE THE PILOT ELECTED TO LAND HIS AIRCRAFT IN THE WATER ON THE NORTH SHORELINE OF OAHU ISLAND, AS THERE WERE PEOPLE ON THE BEACH. THE PILOT WAS ABLE TO EXIT THE AIRPLANE AS THE AIRPLANE DID NOT FLIP OVER BUT THE AIRPLANE SUSTAINED SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE FROM THE IMPACT WITH THE WATER.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.
