## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

AIRMAN WAS LANDING OFF-AIRPORT. HE DID A LOW PASS TO SURVEY THE LANDING AREA. WHEN HE CAME BACK AROUND FOR THE FIRST LANDING, HE ENCOUNTERED GUSTY WINDS AND DID A GO-AROUND. ON THE THIRD TIME AROUND, HE AGAIN ENCOUNTERED GUSTY WINDS, AND DECIDED TO GO-AROUND TOO LATE. THE GUSTY WINDS PUSHED HIM OVER AND THE RIGHT WING HIT THE GROUND AND CAUSED THE AIRCRAFT TO FLIP OVER.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ANC14CA090](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ANC14CA090), Sep 30, 2014: Bellanca 8GCBC (N2976M), Port Alsworth, AK, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilots failure to maintain control of the airplane during an aborted landing in gusty wind conditions.

## Other reports on N2976M (1)

Matched to the same aircraft by N-number and date.

- [Incident 19831014065619I](https://openairdocs.org/incident/19831014065619I), Oct 14, 1983: Bbavia 8GCBC (N2976M), Eagle River, AK, Minor damage. Ground looped on landing. Too many spacers on right oversize tire installation. Moved brake unit out too FAR.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
