## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ WAS CONDUCTING A FLIGHT REVIEW WITH^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^. ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ WAS THE PILOT FLYING, OCCUPYING THE FRONT SEAT, AND ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ WAS INSTRUCTING FROM THE REAR SEAT. ON THE FIRST LANDING WHILE ON FINAL APPROACH, A SLIP WAS INITIATED AND THE SPOILERS WERE DEPLOYED. ON SHORT FINAL THE SLIP WAS DISCONTINUED TO ENSURE CLEARANCE WITH TREES PRIOR TO THE RUNWAY. ONCE THE TREES WERE CLEARED THE SLIP WAS REINITIATED (100' AGL). AS THE GLIDER NEARED THE GROUND THE SLIP WAS DISCONTINUED BUT THE SPOILERS REMAINED DEPLOYED. THE EXCESSIVE DECENT RATE COMBINED WITH THE SHARP UPSLOPE OF THE RUNWAY RESULTED IN A HARD LANDING. ADDITIONALLY ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ ATTENTION WAS DIVIDED BETWEEN ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ CONTROL OF THE AIRCRAFT AND THE GLIDERS CLEARANCE OVER THE TREES.
