## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

THE AIRCRAFT WAS DEPARTING ON RUNWAY 25 WHEN ON TAKE OFF ROLL THE AIRCRAFT RAN OFF THE LEFT SIDE OF THE RUNWAY INTO THE GRASS THROUGH A LARGE DITCH WHERE THE NOSE OF THE AIRCRAFT STRUCK THE EMBANKMENT CAUSING THE AIRCRAFT TO SPIN RESULTING IN THE COLLAPSE OF THE RIGHT MAIN AND NOSE GEAR.

THE PILOT AND FRONT PASSENGER SEAT TRACK GUIDES HAD FAILED AND THE PILOTS SEAT BACK POSITION LOCK HAD FAILED.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CEN15LA024](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CEN15LA024), Oct 19, 2014: Cessna 172K (N79534), Xenia, OH, substantial damage. Probable cause: The failure of the seat track mechanism, which led the pilot to inadvertently apply aft yoke and lift his feet off the rudder pedals and resulted in a loss of directional control during takeoff.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
