## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

THE PILOT WAS PRACTICING STOP AND GO LANDINGS AFTER RECENTLY BEING ENDORSED BY A CERTIFIED FLIGHT INSTRUCTOR FOR A TAILWHEEL RATING. THE PILOT HAD COMPLETED FIVE STOP AND GO LANDINGS AT THE WASILLA AIRPORT, AND WAS IN THE PROCESS OF CONDUCTING A FULL-STOP LANDING AT THE MERRILL FIELD AIRPORT. THE PILOT LANDED ON RUNWAY 25, AND WAS PLANNING TO EXIT ON TAXIWAY ECHO. TAXIWAY ECHO IS A ?HIGH SPEED? TAXIWAY EXIT FROM RUNWAY 25. WHILE CLEARING THE RUNWAY AT TAXIWAY ECHO, THE PILOT?S HEEL SLIPPED FROM THE LEFT BRAKE ONTO THE LEFT RUDDER. THIS CAUSED THE AIRCRAFT TO VEER SLIGHTLY FURTHER LEFT THAN DESIRED. ACCORDINGLY, THE AIRCRAFT ENTERED THE GRASSY AREA BETWEEN THE RUNWAY AND THE TAXIWAY. THIS ONLY LASTED FOR A BRIEF MOMENT, AS THE PILOT QUICKLY BROUGHT THE AIRCRAFT BACK ONTO THE TAXIWAY. THE AIRCRAFT WAS NOT DAMAGED, AND THE PILOT WAS NOT INJURED. THE PILOT WAS THE SOLE OCCUPANT OF THE AIRCRAFT.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
