## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON NOVEMBER 29, 2014, N1653U DEPARTED BETHEL FOR ATT, KUK, AND NUP. AFTER DEPARTING, LEVELING OFF FOR CRUISE, SETTING CRUISE POWER, AND LEAVING BETHEL AIRSPACE, THE PIC NOTICED AN UNUSUAL VIBRATION. THE PIC WAS ABLE TO DETERMINE THAT THE #3 CYLINDER WASN?T PRODUCING POWER BY USING THE INSIGHT G1 GUAGE. AFTER NOTIFYING COMPANY AND BETHEL ATC THAT HE NEEDED TO RETURN, THE PIC TURNED BACK TO BETHEL. AFTER HE TURNED FOR BETHEL, THE VIBRATION GOT CONSIDERABLY WORSE, THE PIC SAW ON INSIGHT GAUGE THAT THE #5 CYLINDER HAD LOST POWER ALSO. THE PIC THEN DECLARED AN EMERGENCY WITH THE BETHEL ATC TOWER AND LANDED WITHOUT INCIDENT. YUTE AIR?S MAINTENANCE PERSONNEL TOOK A LOOK AT THE #3 AND #5 CYLINDERS AND FOUND THEM LOOSE ON THE CASE. IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE

ENGINE SHOULD NOT BE REPAIRED.

THE DOM DECIDED TO GROUND THE AIRCRAFT INDEFINITELY UNTIL AN OVERHAULED ENGINE CAN BE INSTALLED. PRIOR TO THAT FLIGHT, THE ENGINE INSTALLED ON N1653U WAS 102.7 HOURS AWAY FROM TBO.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
