ON NOVEMBER 30, 2014 THE PILOT DEPARTED FROM MKS AIRPORT HEADED TO GMU OR GREENVILLE DOWNTOWN AIRPORT IN AN EXPERIMENTAL RV-7 HE HAD BUILT AROUND JULY 2012. THE PILOT HAD CHECKED WEATHER ON A COMMERCIAL WEATHER SERVICE CALLED WEATHERMEISTER BEFORE THE FLIGHT AND WAS REPORTED VFR WITH GUSTY WINDS. AS THE PILOT APPROACHED THE AIRPORT THE TOWER INFORMED HIM THE WINDS WERE AT 230 18 KNOTS GUSTING TO 25 KNOTS AND WAS TOLD THE CURRENT RUNWAY IN USE WAS RUNWAY 19. THE PILOT ACCEPTED THIS AND ATTEMPTED TO LAND WITH A CROSS WIND. AT APPROXIMATELY 1315 HRS THE AIRPLANE TOUCHED DOWN NEAR THE NUMBERS AND ROLLED ABOUT 400 FEET. AT AROUND 400 FEET THE AIRPLANE?S RIGHT WING WAS LIFTED UP ABOUT 30 DEGREES AND THE AIRCRAFT VEERED OFF THE LEFT SIDE OF THE RUNWAY WHERE THE LEFT WING HIT A TAXIWAY/RUNWAY SIGN. THE AIRCRAFT ROLLED OFF INTO THE GRASS UNTIL IT NOSED INTO THE DIRT STOPPING THE PROPELLER. THE PILOT WAS NOT INJURED.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
