## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON DECEMBER 2, 2014 AT APPROXIMATELY 11:45 A.M. THE MEMPHIS FSDO WAS NOTIFIED OF A DOWNED AIRCRAFT NEAR THE FAYETTE COUNTY AIRPORT. THE AIRCRAFT WAS LOCATED BY LOCAL CIVIL AIR PATROL WHO HAD BEEN CONDUCTING A SEARCH FOR AN AIRCRAFT MISSING SINCE APPROXIMATELY 1900 HOURS ON DECEMBER 1, 2014. FAYETTE COUNTY SHERIFF'S DEPARTMENT RESPONDED TO THE SCENE AND FOUND THAT N8670W, A PA-28 HAD CRASHED APPROXIMATELY 1/2 MILE FROM THE FAYETTE COUNTY AIRPORT. THERE WAS ONE OCCUPANT, DECEASED AT THE SCENE, IDENTIFIED AS ROBERT BRANDON LAMPLEY.

THIS INSPECTOR WAS DISPATCHED TO THE SCENE AND STARTED THE INVESTIGATION PROCESS. REDUCED VISIBILITY AND LOW CEILINGS WERE REPORTED OVER A WIDE AREA AT THE APPROXIMATE TIME OF THE CRASH.

THE AIRCRAFT IMPACTED IN WOODED TERRAIN IN A STEEP ATTITUDE AND IS INDICATIVE OF A LOSS OF CONTROL. FIRE CONSUMED MOST OF WHAT WAS LEFT OF THE AIRCRAFT AFTER THE CRASH.
