## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

SPORT PILOT WAS FLYING HOME HIS NEWLY PURCHASED JABIRU LIGHT SPORT AIRPLANE, J250-SP, FROM LAS VEGAS NV TO SAINT CHARLES MO. PILOT DIVERTED FROM AMA TO TDW AIRPORT TO LAND ON RUNWAY 17 WHICH WAS MORE ALIGNED TO THE WIND (180 DEGREES AT 15 KNOTS WITH GUSTS TO 23) THEN THE RUNWAYS AT AMA. PILOT SET FULL FLAPS AND USED 70 KNOTS ON APPROACH. JUST BEFORE TOUCH DOWN HE SLOWED TO 60 KNOTS AND A GUST OF WIND LIFTED HIM UP. HE RAN OUT OF ELEVATOR CONTROL AND IN THE RESULTING NOSE LOW LANDING THE PROP STRUCK THE RUNWAY, THEN THE NOSE GEAR FAILED. THE AIRCRAFT REMAINED UPRIGHT AND SLID TO A STOP WITHIN 100 FEET, JUST OFF THE EDGE OF THE RUNWAY. DAMAGES WERE LIMITED TO THE PROPELLER AND THE NOSE LANDING GEAR STRUCTURE. NO INJURIES.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
