## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

THE PILOT WAS ON AN INSTRUMENT APPROACH INTO DELAND. DID NOT MAKE THE FIRST ATTEMPT FOR LANDING. CIRCLED THE AIRPORT IN IFR CONDITIONS AND TRIED 4 OTHER TIMES TO LAND. FINALLY LANDED VERY HARD AND DAMAGED THE WING FROM THE LANDING GEAR.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

Probable cause: The pilot's inadequate preflight weather planning and decision to land in an area with known convective wind gusts, which resulted in a loss of control and subsequent hard landing.
